What is an Egg Cleanse and what should I expect?

Egg Cleanses, Explained
I get asked about egg cleanses a lot, usually by people who say something like, “I don’t know how to explain it, I just feel heavy,” or “I feel off and I can’t shake it.” If that sounds like you, this is for you. An egg cleanse isn’t dramatic or scary. It’s actually one of the gentlest spiritual clearing rituals I offer at ONYX MAW, and very often it’s the one people feel the most relief from.
An egg cleanse is an old spiritual practice that’s been used across many cultures for generations. At its core, it’s simple. The egg is used as a natural absorber, helping to draw out stagnant, heavy, or overwhelming energy from your energetic field. I like to explain it this way: we move through life picking things up. Stress. Other people’s emotions. Emotional shocks. Grief. Exhaustion. Even just the weight of having to hold it together all the time. Most of it isn’t dramatic enough to notice in the moment, but it adds up. An egg cleanse is a way of gently clearing that buildup.
Spiritually, the egg is powerful because it’s whole. It carries life, protection, and potential inside a delicate shell. It’s long been seen as something that can hold energy without judgment or force. Nothing is taken from you that isn’t ready to go, and nothing is pulled aggressively. It’s a soft clearing, not a confrontation.
During the cleanse itself, the process is calm and grounded. I use two whole, unbroken eggs (one at a time) and gently move it over your body, working intuitively and with prayer. If certain areas feel heavier, emotionally or energetically, I’ll spend more time there. There’s no rush, no performance, and no pressure to feel anything in particular. Most people are surprised by how peaceful the session feels. Afterward, the egg is cracked into a glass of water, and allowed to sit for 10 minutes while we chat.
When the egg settles in the water, it naturally forms shapes and patterns. These are read symbolically and gently. Cloudiness can reflect emotional or energetic heaviness. Strings or web-like shapes often point to exhaustion or lingering attachments. Bubbles usually suggest protection or energy actively releasing. Clear water and a clear yolk often reflect balance and calm. I’m very intentional about how this part is handled.

Everyone experiences an egg cleanse differently. Some people feel things during the session itself, like deep sighs, yawning, warmth, tingling, or emotional release. Others feel almost nothing in the moment and then later realise they feel lighter, clearer, or calmer than they have in a long time. It’s also common to feel a bit tired afterward, which usually just means your energy is settling back into balance.
After a cleanse, I always recommend drinking water, taking it easy if you can, and avoiding emotionally heavy situations for the rest of the day. I often say to think of it like tidying a room. You don’t immediately want to bring more clutter back in.
Something I feel strongly about is spiritual integrity. At ONYX MAW I simply hold space with humility, prayer, and respect, and allow what’s ready to be released to move on.
People are usually drawn to an egg cleanse when they feel drained but can’t explain why, emotionally overwhelmed, spiritually unsettled, or heavy after stress, grief, conflict, or a major life shift. You don’t need a belief system, and you don’t need to understand energy. You just need to feel like your spirit could use a reset and always must be done in person.
An egg cleanse isn’t about fixing you. You’re not broken. It’s about giving your nervous system, your energy, and your spirit permission to let go of what it’s been quietly carrying. Sometimes the most powerful shifts are the quiet ones, and if this resonates with you, trust that feeling. That’s usually where the work begins.
